Our popular Strength & Balance class, for Seniors runs each Wednesday. The class teaches proven exercises to increase your strength, balance, core stability and overall physical capability. If you need a chair four this class, they will be available - this class is for any senior wanting to build or improve on their current balance and strength. Come and join us for Scones and Scrabble here at TKC. Each Tuesday from 10am to 1pm. This is a fun way to meet people, have fun and enjoy a lovely scone or two! We will provide the scrabble boards and the scones. We just need you! Grab a friend and come along, or come by yourself. We’d love to see you.

We will help you write your personal history over this 14 week course. You will leave with a bound copy of your personal history book - it's the perfect way to leave a legacy for your family or a keepsake for yourself. It's also a great way to log and celebrate your life.

This 10 week course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of well-being from ancient Greek and Roman philosophy to contemporary existentialist perspectives, to help you live a good life.
Through a combination of lectures, movies and discussions, participants will explore the key concepts of philosophical thought and its relevance to living a ‘good life’. Morning tea provided.
The Feel Good Guitar Group (FGGG) - Beginner Guitar Group for Adults

SENIORS SINGALONG & SCONES - Come and join us for a singalong & scones here at TKC on the last Friday of each month, with the fabulous Riff Raff, Michael & Brent. This is a fun way to meet people, enjoy a singalong (song books provided and songs from the 30's to the 90's) and have a lovely scone or two! We will provide the scones. This Kung Fu class is a branch of Dragon Tao Wing Chun Kung Fu adapted to be more gentle and low impact while maintaining its quality and standards.
Learn a highly effective form of self defence, while also strengthening the mind-body connection. No matter your fitness level or body type, develop and leverage your personal strength, co-ordination and balance to mindfully generate power for movement, in self defence and everyday life.
Suitable for over 50s and welcoming all fitness levels.

Chris has 10 years experience in Wing Chun Kung Fu. Over the last 3 years he has taught Kung Fu professionally to older adults all the way to children. He runs the Dee Why Branch of Dragon Tao Kung Fu and has taught 93 workshops with corporate clients from Canberra to the Sunshine Coast through Safety Strategies, a Kung Fu based company that specialises in conflict resolution and workplace violence prevention training. He has also taught a women’s self defence program at Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre where it ended up being one the most popular activities at that centre with 20 participants on day 1.

Chair Yoga – especially good for seniors or those who are not as mobile (but the benefits are just as good)
Chair yoga is an alternative for some yoga students. There are some health conditions where a regular yoga class is not appropriate. For those clients we will assist with a modified yoga routine that can be done with a chair. An assessment is needed.

This is a gentle exercise class focusing on core strength, stability & balance. The class includes both standing and mat based exercised and is suitable for all levels of fitness. This class will incorporate stretching and relaxation to leave you feeling rejuvenated. The class is taken by our popular teach Stephen, who runs our Strength & Balance classes (that continually book out).

Do you love books? Do you read a lot? Have you always wanted to write creatively but not sure how to start? This course will guide you through the basics of creative writing for short stories, novels and memoir. We will cover the basics: the difference between plot and story, story structure, bringing settings to life, creating engaging characters, writing realistic dialogue and crafting a unique writer’s voice. The workshop will also cover the basics of rewriting, editing, publishing and submitting work.
The workshop will be highly interactive with writing exercises to practice what students are being taught. Students will be able to share what they’ve if they wish to, there will be no pressure to share.
Competency in reading and writing English.
Outcomes:
By the end of the workshop students will, at an introductory level:
Understand the difference between plot and story
Know what story structure is and how it works
Have learnt how to creatively describe settings
Have learnt what an engaging character is and the basics of developing one
Know how to write dialogue
Understand the process of developing their writers voice
Understand the 3 types of editing
Know how to submit pieces to magazines
